Shirley Owens: Hello and welcome back. Today, I'm reflecting on my conversation with Sean Douglas. Sean is a super positive person. And one of the things that we've talked about really resonates with what I teach and that is that whatever we're searching for, we can find evidence of. So I decided I'm just going to read a small excerpt from my book because it pretty much sums up what we were saying, "Starting with some awareness and curiosity with regards to your perspectives will help you notice how they manifest in every area of your life. Most of the time, we're not aware of what they are and we allow our perspective to develop without individual ownership, which means, we experience situations that validate that perspective, which we may not even intend.

“Whatever we are searching for, we can find evidence of.” -Shirley Owens

We absorbed it from our upbringing, from the five people we were associated most with, or some other influences without thinking. We all know how that works in other areas. For instance, if we focus on the negative, that's what we are going to see. If your intentional or even wholly unconscious and unintentional perspective is to see your man as selfish, then you will be able to find ample evidence of it several times a day. Anything he does for himself will be selfish. Even self care or interruptions of his attention such as going to the gym or taking a moment to look at his phone, when you have part of your brain always tuned in to looking for proof. In contrast to that, if you intentionally seek the positive from your man, you will start to see more positive things about him. But that perspective, his decision to spend Saturday morning at the gym may strike you as a commitment to being healthy and in shape. And glancing at his phone while you were talking won't bother you at all. Do you see how just changing your view of your own perspective can actually change the reality of how you see him, which in turn will shift your attitude which can't help but change how you treat him. Our mind is a mysterious, extremely powerful part of us. There have been studies upon studies regarding this, you can create any reality you want in it. From birth. we're conditioned to accept the story that's given to us as true. Some of our memories are made up of what really happened. Some parts come from what you think happened. And some actually come from what others have told you happened, and you've recreated the sensory parts in your mind.

“Our mind is a mysterious, extremely powerful part of us… You can create any reality you want in it.” -Shirley Owens

This being said, our perspectives are formed from these memories and experiences. Nope, two perspectives are exactly the same. Not even twins that were raised the same way by the same parents have the same experiences form the same perspective. Just because it's your perspective doesn't mean it's the only one that can be right. When you change your perspective, you change your reality." So that's just a small excerpt from the book. And I really believe that when we're looking for evidence that's negative, we're going to find it. And when we're looking for positive evidence, we're going to find it. So really be careful of what you're looking for.

“When you change your perspective, you change your reality.” -Shirley Owens

This week, I would have you notice what it is that you're searching for, whether it being your partner, in yourself, in your job just in life, in general, really notice are you focusing on the negative? Are you looking for negatives? Because you will certainly find it if you are. Or are you looking for positive and creating more positive? I promise you that when you search for positive, you will find so much more of it. I love you all. Have an amazing positive week and I will see you next Tuesday.
